Mission Statement
The purpose of this website is to provide a healing place for loved ones of addicts. I feel certain none of us chose to be the loved one of an addict, rather we were chosen. While the site is designed for loved ones of addicts, addicts themselves are encouraged and welcome to become members. My son, John, 22 has struggled with addictions for five years. He now sees a physician and is dealing with the aftermath of drug addiction legally. Any loved one of an addict knows what the last five years of our lives have been like without even reading our story. But our stories are the photographs of our lives. Though brutal to view, harder still to disclose our albums are rich in painful memories, terror, and oddly enough even some funny snapshots. This site is designed to allow us all a safe place to 'lay it all down'. Hopefully in doing so our lives will become enriched with new found knowledge, insights, and candid advice...and it's all free.
I need to publicly acknowledge the genius computer tech, Michael Lafrinere for his generous engineering of the site. He not only sourced all of the free components for the site, he installed them and designed the beautiful logo, all at no charge so we could have this healing place. I'm endeared to the logo for obvious reasons, the people holding hands, in a circle with hearts between them and the symbolism is poignant. His logo compliments the mission statement perfectly. So thank you, Michael for all you've done to make this dream a reality.
Finally, I need to say, we, the loved ones of addicts, are family. All I ask is that we be kind to one another and hopefully we can help each other get on with this difficult journey, stronger and empowered to live fully. This is my heartfelt wish for you. You have suffered enough.
Sincerely, (founder and webmaster) Perny
